Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

Ferry Industries is looking for an experienced, creative Mechanical Engineer to join the engineering team. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing and improving designs for rotational molding machines and precision bandsaws using SOLIDWORKS software. The person in this role interacts with all areas of the business. The job is exciting and stimulating as each project has challenges and offers the chance to both learn and do something new on a regular basis.

Summary

The position of Mechanical Engineer at Ferry Industries is responsible for complete mechanical designs of machinery that meet the standards of quality and innovation established by normal design standards, Ferry Industries standards and customer requirements. The Mechanical Engineer is an integral member of an engineering team that collaborates with all parts of the business. It is critical that learning, teaching, and sharing of engineering knowledge, manufacturing methods and innovative ideas be practiced as designs are developed.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  •   Develop complete industrial machines, models, drawings, and required specifications using SOLIDWORKS design software
  •   Perform structural load and stress calculations for new and existing designs (FEA)
  •   Size and specify mechanical power train components like gearboxes, motors, bearings, and fans for new and improved applications.
  •   Performs work with a high degree of latitude
  •   Providing technical leadership and engineering support within the department and throughout the company.
  •   Manage projects as required for machine design, development or engineering related processes
  •   Administer and ensure compliance to all safety rules and regulations
  •   Provide troubleshooting expertise and handle the most complex engineering issues.
  •   Accountable for quality, efficiency, and accuracy of work
  •   Confers with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information

Qualifcations:

•    Promptly and accurately able to develop designs and concepts for mechanical systems
•    Skilled in the use of CAD software such as SolidWorks
•    Skilled with MS Office products – comfortable learning new applications
•    Familiarity with ERP systems – Visual Manufacturing experience is preferred
•    Lean or problem-solving knowledge and experience
•    Good oral and written communication skills – must be able to interact with others daily
•    Must be able to accurately record, organize and present various types of information
•    Familiar with manufacturing disciplines of welding, machining, electrical wiring, assembly, and painting
•    Willingness to continue training and education
•    Ability to meet deadlines.
•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
 

Education & Training:

•    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
•    5+ years minimum of on-the-job experience.
