Job Description
This position is for a highly-motivated field service technician in Customer Service Department. The technician is responsible for installation, start-up, troubleshooting, training and field technical support for all machinery product lines produced by Ferry Industries, Inc., for both domestic and international customers.
Direct experience in the following areas preferred
• Mechanical installation, troubleshooting and repair of complex production machinery.
• Electrical and electronic controls troubleshooting.
• PLC troubleshooting and understanding of ladder logic; brands like GE & Allen Bradley
• Knowledge of combustion, ovens and industrial furnace-related systems strongly preferred; gas-fired burners, gas trains and controls preferred.
• Strong knowledge in the function, use and troubleshooting of AC inverters (VFDs) and DC drives/controllers; brands like Hitachi, GE/Fuji, Allen Bradley, KB, etc.
• Experience with temperature controllers; brands like Partlow, Future Design, etc.
• Knowledge and use of safety systems like light curtains, laser scanners, safety controllers, safety-rated switches and sensors.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• 10 years of experience
• Travel up to 80% both domestically and internationally; valid passport required (or be capable of acquiring one) and no travel restrictions.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and supervise others.
• Ability to function effectively in a team environment and communicate at a technical level with colleagues and customers.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, electrical schematics and bills of materials.
• Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC circuits and power supplies.
• Electrical and electronic controls troubleshooting.
• PLC troubleshooting and understanding of ladder logic: brands like GE & Allen Bradley
• Completing and submitting proper documentation to office and customer in regards to status of machine issues, repairs, and installation.
• Tasks require working from a ladder or elevated platform and in confined spaces.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, kneel, sit and bend for long periods of time.
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office are required.
• Responsible use of an expense account with timely completion of trip reports and technical feedback to manager.
